2020 #MusicTourism Britain Ireland

#MusicTourism has so much potential for bringing Britain Ireland communities together to make a song and dance about their local spaces and faces to discover. A positive and welcoming vision of green and pleasant lands is very much what is needed now. Independence requires self sufficiency.

Supporting the grass roots venues where the economy gifting talent is developed is of great importance. These are gathering places of peace, leisure and creativity. Entertainment is also an industry where passion, people skills, loyalty and initiative are as much of a CV qualification as academic achievement.

Independent Venue Week 2020 was off the scale with news and moments #IVW20 including great achievements by Music Venue Trust. Although Music Tourist Board was created at Pop Of The Tops (a punky, DIY, newer wave of rock club), Music Tourism involves all genres and cross breeds with all arts and crafts.

Updated 020 11 (November 2020)

#MusicTourism tips  #MusicTBtips (connect with the venues via the FakeBoot photo album) started with 2020 recommendations; The Underground, Dublin, Ireland, Moles, Bath, England and The Windmill in Brixton, London. The next additions were to be Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff, Wales, The Oh Yeah Centre in Belfast, and King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, Scotland. Covid19 may have shelved some of the plans, but the creativity of the music world at grass roots venue level, especially, have made new possibilities.

First to come on board whole heartedly, is the suitably named Travellers Tunes, rock and roll living music site inspired and involved with the scenes: https://travellerstunes.com/ - part of the #Interdependent sector on the grassroots / independent venues circuit.

Music Tourist Board to end of 2020

Reaching out will continue.

National tourism boards, local councils and music tourism projects. Education and Employement are part of this heritage, community and culture aim.

Music tourism can be local, travelled, international or virtual.

So far... Interest from London City Hall (met Amy Lame the Night Czar at a Music Venue Trust launch) and inspiration from Liverpool, Coventry, Cardiff, Manchester (whose Mayor, Andy Burnham, bigs up the local talent) and Cuba.

This is not going to be easy, small, starting from nothing and mostly ignored or talked over. It would be harder to fail to try than to try then fail. So... Onwards, then...
